I wanna see how this unfolds…

… but dang! I’m going to be away with no Internet connection for 2 weeks! Basically what I wanna see unfold is how Pope Benedict is going to engage the world in dialogue about the ineffectiveness of the use of condoms in stemming the spread of AIDS in Africa.

Needless to say, the media and some European governments have professed outrage at the pope’s comments on condoms.

A former prime minister of France has gone on to say that the successor of Peter has “become a problem” simply for telling the truth.

However, I have full confidence in Pope Benedict being able to tackle this matter in his trademark humility and honest search for the truth. The pope who has ruffled feathers before in Regensburg managed to bring 138 prominent Muslims clerics, scholars, and intellectuals to engage in “A Common Word Between Us and You” and urge greater understanding between Muslims and Christians, and emphasizing the common ground between the two faiths.

I wanna see how the secular media will attempt to silence the pope’s voice, and how the pope will encourage the people of Africa and the world, including governments and decision-makers, to seek the truth in this matter.

No matter. By the time I get back from my trip, the clamour will hopefully just have started to die down and people will be just starting to think that there is truth (much truth indeed) to be found in the pope’s bold words.

“No one lights a lamp to cover it with a bowl or to put it under a bed. No, he puts it on a lamp-stand so that people may see the light when they come in. For nothing is hidden but it will be made clear, nothing secret but it will be known and brought to light.” - Luke 8:16
