i am from the philippines. i really like your blog. its like a mini-catechism book.. i am a catholic so i really understand your posts.. and i would like to be a priest..
by the way, why don;’t you try this site: http://www.zenit.org it contains the latest news in the vatican. have a nice day!
Hi deejay,
Thanks for the affirmation! I already receive the daily digest from ZENIT.
It is not easy to be a priest. Then again, it’s not easy to be married and raise a family, or to be single and celibate either. Our late Pope John Paul II taught us that: if we can’t say ‘no’, our ‘yes’ is worthless. Basically what I’m trying to say is, it is important to explore all three possible vocations: priesthood and religious life, married, consecrated singlehood.
The reason for this is that becoming a priest means saying ‘yes’ to God in his particular call to you. If you have not explored the other two vocations, then you don’t know what you are saying ‘no’ to. Hence, your ‘yes’ to priesthood is worthless, because you don’t know what you’re saying ‘no’ to.
I’m not discouraging you from joining the priesthood. In fact, I am encouraging you to make priesthood a real choice, by knowing what you are saying ‘no’ to. Keep all your doors open and ask God to show you what it really means to be married, to be a consecrated single, and to be a priest, so that you will be able to choose what God is asking of you.
God bless,

Hi Catholic Writer,
What an interesting blog you have, some rarely talked about topics too! I’m glad to hear that your message is a popular one, may it long be so. Good for you
Thanks!
I’m too spent to reply on the “a-great-injustice-to-homosexuals” post. Writing yesterday’s never ending-ly long comment reply sapped the last drop out of me!
Will get back though…
Also lots of questions from the Bible I had to ask, in particular the Old Testament. They’ll come knocking at your doors as time passes. I’m off for today!
And hope you get time to clean up your room!
PS: Who are you?
PPS: Great work with the blog!
Hey Justin,
Yeah, writing comments and their replies can really sap the juice out of me sometimes. Take your time and come back with more questions. I like questions because they force me to reflect further and strengthen (through challenging) my convictions.
Clean my room? Hmm, I think I will wait for Christmas to do that!
Thanks for the compliment! As for who am I? Well, I don’t think there’s much point telling you my name, because you’ll probably just go, “Who’s that?” so let’s just say that I am a Catholic who enjoys writing.
After all, that’s why I chose this moniker. At this point of my life, it really defines who I am and what I do!
God bless,
Catholic Writer
